Epic Advertising: The Importance of Being Different

Koku writes: "I think that most people who enjoy entertainment know what it means to have a dime-a-dozen action advertisement. Assorted hero or heroine faces down seemingly impossible amounts of cannon fodder whilst epic music plays in the background. It’s a type of advertisement that we’ve all seen, and we’re all sick of. What’s worse about this sort of advertisement is that it does nothing to help the consumer remember the product unless it’s a big name. Let’s face it. Master Chief and the Arbiter could be in a commercial with them flipping hamburgers at Hardee’s and singing "Jingle Bells" and it the series would still sell millions." PS3 Slim news: Why Heavy Rain Beats Mass Effect 2 in Emotional Payoffs

Split-Screen: "Having completed Mass Effect 2, passing the suicide mission with only one casualty, I sat through the game’s admittedly short ending and let it all sink in. Every thing I had worked for – the upgrades, the battles, the conversations – had all been for this moment. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Not with the game itself, easily one of Bioware’s best, but in the payoff to the amount of emotion invested in." Slim-PS3 is updated several times each day with the latest Slim PS3 news.

“Only bad Wii games sell badly” – Bloober – Console news

Recent news: Capcom’s "bitching" (and subsequent back-track) about poor sales of Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles was ill-aimed, WiiWare developer Bloober Team has told Eurogamer.

"With such a strong install base it’s hard to believe that there’s not enough people to appreciate mature, core content," said executive producer Marcin Kawa. "It’s all about games and quality. I’m not surprised that another shooter on rails doesn’t sell well. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that people expect something more than that…" Slim-PS3.com is updated frequently each day with the latest games consle news, reviews and features.

PS3 news: MAG – Doomed For Mediocrity

NextGN writes: "The quality of first-person shooter games that have recently hitting retail has been nothing short of amazing. With games like Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, Halo: ODST, and Killzone 2 basically dominating the genre it would be near suicide to release anything that does not blow you away. Zipper Interactive have decided to do something that has never been attempted before – create a Massive Multi-Player Online First-Person Shooter game that can host 256 players at once. In theory this technically impressive, however, this could also be the main downfall of the game." Slim PS3 news: Microsoft’s ‘Game Room’ To Out-’Home’ ‘PlayStation Home’

Microsoft’s on-going efforts to make your avatar the end-all be-all of your online digital persona is continuing with their announcement of "Game Room." It’s basically a virtual arcade filled with classic arcade games. You can walk your avatar up to arcade machines and start playing (for a fee). That’s basically it.

The service will be available on Xbox 360 and PC, with players able to purchase "free play" of a game for anywhere between 240 and 400 Microsoft Points (or $3 to $5 in non-moon bucks). You can also choose to play just once for 40 MS Points, as an attempted throwback to the whole quarter experience. Angry Joe Show: Why the VGA’s Suck Balls

Koku Gamer writes: "Ever since the first Video Game Awards made public presence, it’s never been a blockbuster type of award show. As years passed by, the shows became more lame than the previous year ones. With odd celebrities, the show being over sponsored and having lame categories for awards, people slowly started watching something else Sunday nights, like I don’t know football."
