Slim PS3 news: Access TV Episode 59

Available to download from the PlayStation Store now

The most iconic cartoon character in history? You could say that. He’s been enchanting audiences for over 80-years and now Mickey Mouse makes his PS3 bow in Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, a brilliantly creative platformer that takes the Game of the Week spot in Access TV Episode 59.

Also out this week is the awesome PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and there’s coverage from last weekend’s Access Live event where the PS3 exclusive brawler was the main attraction. Expect interviews with the brilliant Access community as well as Battle Royale’s Lead Designer (and all round beat ‘em up legend) Seth Killian. Plus there are people in ridiculous costumes.

And there’s more! Specifically an interview with Far Cry 3 Lead Writer Jeffrey Yohalem as we gear up for the release of the biggest open world shooter in years, plus all the latest PS3 news and a roundup of the best content currently available on the PlayStation Store, which this week includes the superb Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Access TV is available on the PlayStation Store every Wednesday, free to download for all UK PSN users.

news: Access TV Episode 56

Latest PS3 news:

Available to download from PlayStation Store now

Like cars, do you? Then you’re going to love Game of the Week on Access TV Episode 56, because it’s Criterion’s epic open world drive ‘em up, Need For Speed Most Wanted. Set in the fictional city of Fairhaven, it’s a world of jumps, donuts and eye-drying street races, with more cars than a Friday evening traffic jam on the M25 (although way more exciting than that).

Keeping with Need For Speed, the team also visit developer Criterion’s studio in Guildford for Access All Areas, and interview the chaps behind the biggest racer of the year.

There’s also coverage from the 30th Annual Golden Joystick Awards as the team speak to the deserving winners, and also presenter funny man Ed Byrne.

To finish up, there’s a look through the week’s hottest news story’s as well as a look at the best new content on the PlayStation Store.

PS3 Slim news: Access TV Episode 37

Available to download from PlayStation Store now

After taking last week off to scurry around LA making E3 videos, Access TV is back on the PlayStation Store this week with *trumpets blare* EVEN MORE E3. Not because they have loads of leftover stuff from the show floor they couldn’t fit in anywhere else, but because it’s brilliant and shiny and new and has Hideo Kojima in it for a little bit.

For any of you who missed the pre-E3 conferences, there’s a swift catch-up of all the biggest games and announcements, including EA’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Dead Space 3, Ubisoft’s  Assassin’s Creed III and Watch Dogs, and Sony’s heart-pumpingly impressive The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls..

There’s more from Joe Merrick – your Access E3 Presenter – as he takes us on a whistle-stop tour through the neon-blue PlaySation area before it gets swamped with crowds, plus the team take in the brightest, best-est and bizarre-est from the show floor itself (watch out for a giant, spinning Sonic and a life-size Katsuhiro Harada that is, in actual fact, Katsuhiro Harada).

The show finishes with a behind-the-scenes look at the PlayStation media room, with interviews and coverage on games such as Unfinished Swan, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and of course  The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls. Enjoy!

PS3 Slim news: Access TV Episode 16

Download it from PlayStation Store now

There will be blood when you check out Episode 16 of Access TV on the Store tonight. And torn limbs. And (if you’re squeamish) lots of wincing. So make sure you watch Game of the Week – which is the The Darkness II by the way – before you’ve eaten your supper. If you’ve got the stomach for it, the game is looking thoroughly excellent.

A bit more family friendly is the Access team’s visit to Elstree Studios to watch the Celebrity Special of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ being recorded live. Competition winner Rama Dainton won a spot at the recording, and also got to try out the new Millionaire game – available from the PlayStation Store right now.

Elsewhere there’s a review of western sci-fi blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens, which has Daniel Craig looking excellent in a fedora and Harrison Ford showing he still knows how to do that thing called acting.

Then there’s your roundup of PlayStation Store content to look forward to, which this week includes JRPG action in the form of Final Fantasy XIII-2’s playable demo, plus PSOne classic Wild Arms. And be sure to check out info on the Access Vita Rooms tour, a countrywide selection of public events that give you the chance to have a crack on PlayStation Vita before its UK launch in February.
